Reverse description The reverse bears a two-line early Nagari (proto-Devanagari) legend filling the entire field, with bold, deeply struck characters typical of late-first-millennium northwestern Indian silver coinage. The inscription reads 'Sri Rana / Hasti' (or Hastiya), meaning 'King Elephant' or 'the glorious king Hasti,' referencing the issuing feudatory ruler Rana Hastin. The script is rendered in a large, somewhat cursive early Nagari hand with prominent curved strokes, without a border, the legend extending nearly to the irregular edge of the flan.
