| Reverse description | Full-length figure of Saint Stephen, the patron saint of Nijmegen, standing in the field, shown in partial three-quarter view turned to the left, vested in diaconal robes and holding a palm branch, the symbol of his martyrdom. The saint is depicted in the Gothic figural tradition common to Low Countries civic coinage of the first half of the sixteenth century. A circular Latin legend in abbreviated form surrounds the figure within a beaded border. |
