| Obverse description | Facing armored bust of Frederick, Lord of Bergh, depicted full-face in Renaissance half-armor, holding an upright sword over the right shoulder and a closed tournament helmet in the left hand. The figure is shown from the waist up, wearing a gorget and pauldrons with fine engraved detail, characteristic of late 16th-century Netherlandish hammered coinage. A beaded inner border frames the central effigy, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery of the field. The overall composition follows the Burgundian-Habsburg tradition of knightly portraiture on daalder-type issues. |
