Obverse description Half-length armored effigy of William IV of Bergh facing right, holding a scepter in his right hand, with the date divided on either side of the figure. The encircling legend in Latin is interrupted by floral stops, with a mintmark positioned at the end of the inscription. The portrait is rendered in the broad, bold style characteristic of mid-sixteenth-century Netherlandish hammered coinage.
