Reverse description Central type depicts a large crowned double-headed eagle displayed, facing the viewer, with wings spread and detailed feather work rendered in the vigorous hammered style of the period; an orb appears on the eagle's breast. The surrounding legend, contained between beaded borders, reads MAXIMI ⋆ II ⋆ IMPE ⋆ AVGVS ⋆ P ⋆ F ⋆ DECRETO, referencing the authority of Emperor Maximilian II under whose imperial decree the coin was struck. The reverse shows characteristic die wear and flan irregularities consistent with hand-hammered production of the late 16th century.
