| Obverse description | Crowned bust of Enrique II facing left, depicted in a bold, medieval style typical of Castilian hammered coinage. The king wears an elaborate Gothic crown with fleurs-de-lis and his hair falls in loose curls to the shoulder. The effigy is set within a beaded inner circle, with the Latin legend ENRICVS : REX : CASTELLE running around the periphery. The portrait is rendered in high relief, with visible die-cutting characteristic of fourteenth-century Castilian craftsmanship. The irregular flan shows slight weakness at the edges, consistent with hammered production. |
