Additional information

Gibraltar has issued commemorative crowns under royal warrant since the 1970s, and the territory's mint program is administered through the Gibraltar government's licensing agreements with private minting houses — Pobjoy Mint handled much of this work historically, though recent issues have moved through other contractors. The Elton John series trades on the 50th anniversary of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, released October 1973, which became one of the best-selling double albums in rock history.

Gold-plated copper-nickel at this weight class is a format produced almost exclusively for the gift and collector market, with negligible secondary trading value above issue price.
