Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Queen Victoria wearing an imperial crown and a veil, rendered in high relief with finely detailed drapery and crown ornamentation. The effigy is portrayed in the Empress series style characteristic of post-1876 British India coinage. The legend VICTORIA EMPRESS arcs around the periphery of the field, with VICTORIA to the left and EMPRESS to the right of the portrait. The overall execution of the design mimics the genuine Calcutta Mint issue but with irregular die work consistent with a contemporary counterfeit. The portrait retains the general likeness of the official coinage despite evident inconsistencies in fine detail.
