Obverse description Central field features a royal crown in relief, rendered in the Gothic style typical of late medieval Navarrese coinage. The crown serves as the primary device, occupying the center of the flan. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading I Z B REX Z RENA, identifying the joint monarchs John and Blanca as King and Queen of Navarre. The coin is struck on an irregular flan with a beaded inner border, characteristic of hammered billon issues of the period.
