Reverse description The arms of the Compagnie des Indes displayed on a large crowned escutcheon charged with fleurs-de-lis, supported on either side by two allegorical figures of indigenous peoples. In the lower field, a reclining figure with a spear is depicted before the sea, with sailing ships visible in the right background. The two-line legend and date in Roman numerals appear in the exergue below. The engraver's initials D.V. are visible at lower right.
