Pick 133 belongs to a short-lived transitional period in Portuguese note design — the mid-1920s issues were printed domestically by the Imprensa Nacional in Lisbon at a moment when Banco de Portugal was pulling back from its earlier reliance on foreign printers. The 5 Escudos denomination was the workhorse of everyday commerce, which means surviving examples in honest circulated condition are common, but unissued or lightly handled specimens less so.

The "Diário de Notícias" designation in the collection title refers to a promotional insert series distributed through that Lisbon newspaper — a philatelic and notaphilic collectible campaign, not a reissue or variant of the original currency.
