| Obverse description | Within a wreath composed of oak and laurel branches tied at the base, the denomination '5 / LIRE / ITALIANE' is displayed prominently in the central field. The date 1848 appears in the exergue below the wreath, flanked by a mintmark to the left and a small rectangular mark to the right. The circular legend 'GOVERNO PROVVISORIO DI LOMBARDIA' runs along the upper periphery, separated from the inner design by a beaded border. The fineness mark '925' is struck discreetly within the lower wreath area on this modern replica. |

| Additional information |
Banca Commerciale Italiana, founded in Milan in 1894 with heavy German and Austrian capital backing, was for most of the twentieth century Italy's largest commercial bank before its absorption into Intesa following a prolonged takeover battle in the late 1990s. This piece was issued in 2000, almost certainly as a commemorative souvenir tied to that transition — the bank ceased independent existence shortly after. Not a circulating coin by any definition, and not a government issue.
