| Obverse description | Two standing saints depicted in full-length Gothic style, facing the viewer: Saints Protasius (left) and Gervasius (right), each nimbed with a beaded halo, rendered in high relief. Between them rises a patriarchal cross on a stepped base, above which appears a small kneeling figure — identifiable as the emperor Henry VII receiving investiture. The saints are robed in elaborate ecclesiastical or martyr's dress, with attributes visible at their sides. The circumferential legend in uncial Latin reads '• S • PROTASI' • S • GERVASI' •' around the upper arc and 'ⵓ HNRIC'IPAT ⵓ' referencing the imperial title, all enclosed within a beaded border. |
