| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of an Indian, wearing a feathered headdress, occupying the central field. Thirteen six-pointed stars are arranged in a circle around the effigy, distributed evenly along the periphery. The date 1863 appears in the lower exergue beneath the bust. The overall design closely emulates the contemporary United States Indian Head cent coinage of the period. |
