Obverse description Laureate head of Nerva facing right, rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and facial features characteristic of late first-century Roman portraiture. The emperor is depicted with a mature, slightly gaunt physiognomy consistent with his known iconography. A aegis or draped paludamentum is visible at the truncation of the bust. The circumferential legend reads IMP NERVA CAES AVG P M TR POT P P, distributed around the portrait field in incuse Latin capitals.

Obverse lettering IMP NERVA CAES AVG P M TR POT P P
(Translation: Supreme commander (Imperator) Nerva, Caesar, emperor (Augustus), high priest, holder of tribunician power, father of the nation.)
Reverse description A bound sheaf of six ears of grain (wheat or barley), depicted upright in the center of the field, rendered with considerable naturalistic detail in the cistophoric tradition typical of Asia Minor coinage. The individual stalks and full grain heads are clearly articulated, rising from a bound base rendered with a wicker or reed-tied bundle. The legend COS III is divided on either side of the sheaf, with COS to the left and III to the right, in bold incuse Latin capitals. The reverse is free of exergual inscription and the flat field shows the characteristic broad flan of the cistophoric denomination.
