Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the idealized Hellenistic portrait style characteristic of the Augustan period. The emperor's short, layered hair is carefully delineated with fine striations across the crown and above the brow. The bust is unadorned, without drapery or laurel wreath, emphasizing the civic rather than divine character of the portrait. The abbreviated Latin legend IMP IX TR PO V arcs across the lower field, referencing Augustus's ninth imperatorial acclamation and his fifth year of tribunician power. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, as is typical of cistophoric coinage produced in the eastern provinces.
