Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered with naturalistic portraiture characteristic of Augustan court art, the hair depicted in fine, striated waves swept forward over the brow. The legend arcs around the lower portion of the field, divided to either side of the truncation. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, typical of the cistophoric series struck in Asia Minor.
