Obverse description Artemis Parthenos, the patron deity of Chersonesos, depicted in a kneeling-running pose (knielauf) to the right, rendered in archaic Greek style. The goddess is shown semi-draped, her body twisting dynamically as she crouches with one knee to the ground. She extends her arms forward, holding a bow in her left hand and an arrow in her right. The finely modeled figure occupies the full flan, with the plain field surrounding the relief.
