Obverse description Facing right, the youthful head of Herakles is depicted wearing the scalp of the Nemean lion as a headdress, the beast's jaws framing the hero's brow and the pelt falling behind. The modelling is bold and typical of Macedonian bronze coinage of the late fourth century BC, with strong facial features rendered in high relief against the plain field.
