| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Ardashir I facing right, wearing a distinctive three-pinnacled crown adorned with palmette-shaped finials surmounted by large pearls, with a diadem fillet below. The hair is rendered in a characteristically bushy Sasanian style, with the pointed beard drawn through a ring; the king wears an earring and a pearl necklace. The bust is cut in four-lobed form, a hallmark of early Sasanian-influenced coinage in the eastern territories. An indistinct symbol appears in the field before the face. |

| Reverse description | The deity Hormizd (Ahura Mazda) depicted en face, enthroned beneath a dais supported by two columns, wearing a crown analogous to that of the obverse royal portrait but distinguished by a long square beard and hair arranged in plaits. The upper body is rendered unclothed in a hieratic style; the left hand holds a sceptre and the right hand extends a wreath with fillets. To the right, a small figure of an adoring king is tentatively identified. In the lower left field, a four-lobed floral device is present, and a Parsik (Pahlavi) legend occupies the field. |
