Reverse description Within a shallow incuse square, a rose in full bloom shown in profile, the civic emblem and punning symbol of Rhodes (Rhodon in Greek), flanked on each side by a leafy branch or bud. The letters P and O, an abbreviated ethnic for POΔION (Rhodion), appear in the field alongside the rose. The incuse square border is a hallmark of early Hellenistic bronze coinage from the Rhodian mint, framing the design with a crisp geometric boundary.
