Obverse description Laureate head of Zeus facing right, rendered in archaic provincial style with coarse but expressive detail. The hair is rendered in thick, layered locks beneath the laurel wreath. The portrait is set within a beaded border (dotted ring), characteristic of late Hellenistic bronze coinage from the Peloponnese.

Reverse description A tripod lebes shown in full front view, its legs splayed outward and resting on a base bar. The civic monogram of Messene, formed from the letters M and E, is prominently displayed flanking the central shaft of the tripod. The entire device is enclosed within an olive or laurel wreath, a common honorific framing element on Messenian bronze issues of the Hellenistic period.
