Obverse description A full-length figure of a muscular, nearly nude man striding forward with broken shackles at his wrists, symbolising the liberation of the Neuchâtel people. A Swiss cross in relief appears in the right field, with radiating lines in the background. The maker's signature HUGUENIN and initials JR appear in the lower field, with the dates 1848-1948 in the exergue and a circular legend running around the rim.
