Obverse description A semi-nude male figure in high relief strains dynamically to break free from a chain that frames the entire border of the medal. To his right, a Swiss cross is depicted in relief against a vertically striated background, while diagonal hatching fills the left field. The engraver's initials appear in small relief near the lower right of the design.
