Reverse description A stylised castle with a long, low outer wall whose ends touch or intersect the coin's circumference, rendered in a simplified architectural form typical of early Ceitil coinage. Below the castle, schematic waves represent the sea, referencing Portugal's maritime dominion. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with an uncial Latin legend surrounding the composition in the outer margin. A mint letter may appear to the right of the castle on certain specimens. The overall style is bold and linear, consistent with hammered copper coinage of Afonso V's reign.
