On January 1, 1913 a gen-
eral domestic parcel post ser-
vice went into operation in the U. S.
Post Office. The new service led to the
issuance of a set of 12 special postage
stamps bearing the legend `U.S.Parcel
Post.` The designs of these staamps feat-
tured the working personnel of the
Postal Service, transportation of the
mail and agricultural interst of
the country
