Obverse description Facing busts of Archduke Albert and Archduchess Isabella, depicted in close jugate arrangement, with Albert to the left and Isabella to the right, both shown in contemporary dress with ruff collars. The effigies are rendered in a somewhat crude hammered style typical of provincial Low Countries coinage of the early seventeenth century. A circular Latin legend surrounds the busts, running along the coin's outer edge within a beaded border.

Reverse description A crowned shield bearing the arms of Franche-Comté — a rampant lion on a field strewn with billets — is depicted at the centre of the coin within an inner circle. The date appears above the shield. The entire design is enclosed by a beaded inner border, with a circular Latin legend running along the outer edge identifying the rulers as Dukes and Counts of Burgundy.
