Obverse description Central field depicts a standing crowned figure of Guigues VIII, Dauphin of Viennois, shown in full frontal view, robed in long garments with hands raised in a gesture of authority or benediction. The figure is rendered in the flat, stylized Gothic manner typical of early 14th-century Dauphiné coinage. A surrounding Gothic Latin legend, separated from the central device by a beaded inner circle, reads the ruler's name and title. The irregular flan edge, characteristic of hammered medieval silver, frames the entire composition.
