Obverse description Bareheaded bust of Ernest of Bavaria facing right, rendered in low relief typical of hammered coinage of the late sixteenth century. The effigy displays a simple, unadorned portrait with period-appropriate costume visible at the truncation. A circular Latin legend surrounds the bust, running along the coin's periphery. The die work is characteristic of regional ecclesiastical mint production of the era, with slightly irregular flan edges.
