Reverse description A floriated or cross pattée with fleurs-de-lis terminals occupies the central field, characteristic of the Liège brûlé coinage of the late fifteenth century. Small decorative elements, likely pellets or annulets, are placed at the centre of the cross. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend reads + MISERE NRI Q PAS ES P NOB, an abbreviated devotional Latin inscription invoking mercy, derived from the liturgical phrase 'Miserere nostri qui passus es pro nobis' (Have mercy on us, who suffered for us).
