| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned arms of the Prince-Bishopric of Liège, rendered in the Gothic heraldic style typical of late medieval Low Countries coinage. The shield is surmounted by a mitre or episcopal crown, with flanking decorative elements. A circular inner ring encloses the armorial device, separating it from the surrounding marginal legend. The peripheral legend in uncial Gothic lettering reads IOhS DE hORn EPS LEODI, identifying John of Horne as Bishop of Liège. The coin shows characteristic irregular flan shape and uneven strike consistent with hammered production of the period. |
