Reverse description A bull shown in left profile dominates the field, rendered in the schematic, energetic style typical of Late Iron Age British coinage. The animal's head is turned to face the viewer frontally, a distinctive iconographic detail of this Tasciovanos issue. A prominent ringed pellet, consisting of a central pellet enclosed within a circular ring, appears in the upper field above the bull's back. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show typical patination, with no inscription or legend present.

Additional information

Tasciovanos ruled the Catuvellauni from roughly the late first century BC, making his coinage among the earliest attributed British issues to carry a ruler's name — a significant shift from the anonymous geometric and naturalistic types that preceded him. His mint appears to have operated at Verulamium, near modern St Albans, which would later become one of Roman Britain's most important urban centers. The tribal territory he controlled stretched across much of what is now Hertfordshire and Essex, including periodic dominance over Trinovantian lands to the east.

ABC 2682 is a minor type within a complex series.
