Obverse description Facing gorgoneion depicted full-face, filling the entire field; the visage is rendered with characteristic apotropaic ferocity, featuring large, deeply set eyes beneath a furrowed brow, prominently full cheeks, a broad flat nose, and a wide open mouth with protruding tongue. The chin is distinctly triangular in form. The hair radiates outward from the crown in thick, sinuous serpentine locks framing the face on all sides, executed in the archaic artistic tradition typical of Olbian coinage of this period.
