Obverse description Half-figure of the Madonna facing forward, holding the Christ Child before her, both figures depicted within a beaded inner circle. The composition is rendered in the late medieval hammered style typical of small Swiss ecclesiastical coinage. The surrounding legend reads ECCE·ANCILLA·DNI (Behold the handmaid of the Lord), referencing the Annunciation. The lettering is arranged in the outer field between the beaded border and the inner circle.
