| Obverse description | Central field displays a turreted castle of Castile, rendered in the Gothic style typical of late medieval Iberian coinage, enclosed within a double linear border. The castle is depicted with three towers, the central tower being the tallest, surmounted by merlons. A beaded inner circle frames the central device, with the circumferential Latin legend ENRICVS DEI GRACIA running around the periphery. The overall die work is characteristic of the hammered billon coinage issued under Henry III. |
