| Reverse description | Central field features a crowned Gothic letter, likely the initial of the monarch Juan I, set within a beaded inner circle. The crown surmounting the letter is rendered in a stylized Gothic manner consistent with Castilian royal coinage of the late 14th century. Flanking the central device are heraldic charges, possibly castles or lions, partially legible due to the irregular flan and uneven strike. The surrounding marginal legend reads PECATA MUNDI MISE, completing the liturgical phrase begun on the obverse: peccata mundi miserere nobis. The overall style and execution are characteristic of hammered billon issues produced under Juan I of Castile and Leon. |
