Obverse description A passant lion rampant to the left occupies the central field, draped in a cape of ermine, rendered in a bold Gothic hammered style characteristic of late 14th-century Breton coinage. The heraldic beast is depicted with pronounced claws and a stylized mane, its ermine cape clearly delineated. The design is enclosed within a plain inner circle, beyond which runs a Gothic Latin legend around the periphery. The coin displays the irregular flan and variable strike typical of hammered silver production of the period.
