Reverse description Within a plain inner circle, the quartered shield of Savoy — bearing the distinctive cross — is depicted centrally, surmounted by a small rosette above the chief. The heraldic shield is rendered in a schematic, angular style typical of medieval hammered issues. A circular legend in uncial Latin script surrounds the inner circle along the coin's periphery, reading SABAVDIE, denoting the County of Savoy. The overall composition reflects the feudal coinage conventions of the 14th-century Savoyard mint.
