| Obverse description | Christ enthroned facing, depicted in three-quarter length, right hand raised in benediction gesture, left hand resting on knee. The nimbed figure is rendered in the characteristic Byzantine hieratic style typical of Latin successor-state coinage. Christogram legend IC-XC flanks the figure to left and right in the field, identifying the enthroned deity as Jesus Christ. The flan is irregular and slightly concave (scyphate), consistent with the debased billon trachy series of the Thessalonican kingdom. |
