| Reverse description | The reverse presents a multi-line Arabic Kufic inscription within a plain inner border, set against a flat, unadorned field. The legend references the reigning Imam-Caliph Al-Mustansir Billah along with standard Fatimid formulaic phrases attesting to his spiritual and temporal legitimacy. The flan is similarly irregular with pronounced edge nicks and a piercing at the upper rim. Green and brown patination covers the entire surface, lending evidence to the coin's billon composition and long period of burial or circulation. The overall style is consistent with provincial Fatimid hammered dirhams of the 5th century AH. |
