The cross is enclosed within a plain inner circle, itself surrounded by a beaded border and a continuous Latin circumscription reading CIVITATIS · IMPERIALIS · 1607 ·, declaring the issuing authority of the Imperial City of Zürich. The date 1607 is incorporated within the legend. The overall design is characteristic of early seventeenth-century Swiss municipal coinage struck on a square klippe flan. |
