| Obverse description | Quartered heraldic shield surmounted by an ornate prince-bishop's crown, displayed on a draped mantle with elaborate baroque cartouche work. The upper quarters bear a diagonal bend (Reinach arms), while the lower quarters feature a rampant lion (Basel episcopal arms). The circular Latin legend reads IOAN·CONR·D·G·+MONETA NOVA, referencing Bishop Johann Konrad II by the grace of God, with the mint date ·1718· prominently placed in the exergue below the shield. The coin's edge is finely milled with a decorative border of small beads. |
