The legend ·SANCTVS·VRSVS·MART runs around the periphery, separated by pellet stops, identifying the patron saint of Solothurn as martyr. The portrait is rendered in a bold, provincial early seventeenth-century style typical of Swiss cantonal billon coinage. |
