Obverse description Central device depicts a crowned great helm (barrel helmet) in profile, surmounted by a royal crown with fleurs-de-lis finials, set within a plain inner circle. The helmet is rendered in a bold, stylised Gothic manner characteristic of 14th-century Iberian coinage, with horizontal visor bars clearly visible. A mint mark letter appears to the right of the helmet in the field. The surrounding legend, separated from the central device by a beaded inner circle, reads SI DNS:MICHI:AIVTOR:NON:TIME, a Psalm-derived Latin motto, arranged around the periphery.
