Obverse description Central field depicts an armored equestrian figure in profile to the right, representing the mounted marquess or a martial patron, rendered in low relief consistent with hammered billon coinage of the late sixteenth century. The horse is shown in a rearing or striding pose, with the rider bearing a lance or sword angled across the body. A crown or crested helmet is discernible above the figure, indicating noble or princely status. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped at the margins, typical of hand-struck small denomination coinage of the Gonzaga lordship. Abbreviated Latin legends border the design, partially visible along the rim.
