Obverse description Stylized depiction of a horse in low relief, presented in left-facing profile, rendered in the schematic artistic convention characteristic of Western Han dynasty cast coinage. The figure is executed with broad, flowing lines suggesting musculature and movement, occupying the majority of the roughly square flan. The surface exhibits heavy encrustation and porosity consistent with the lead-based alloy and considerable age. No inscriptions or border devices are present on this face.
