Obverse description | The obverse and the reverse of these 2 oz Aztec Sun Stone Silver Stackers feature the same design. The obverse is convex while the reverse is concaved to allow for stacking. The design itself consists of a beautiful replication of the original Aztec Sun Stone. In the middle of the design, there is a solar deity many believe to be Tonatiuh. Surrounding this image are four blocks, which represent the previous four eras, or suns, of Aztec cosmology. At the time this stone was designed, the Aztecs believed they were in the fifth and final era of humankind. A ring wraps around these blocks with images from the Aztec solar calendar. This ring is accompanied by arrows pointing in the four cardinal directions. |
