Obverse description Right-facing bust of Carolus Linnaeus in high relief, wearing a coat with a small botanical sprig at the lapel and a curled period wig. The circular legend around the rim reads DONCASTER HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY with the date 1835 at right, and CAROLUS LINNAEUS along the lower legend. The engraver's initials J.B. appear below the truncation.

Reverse description The arms of Doncaster centrally displayed, depicting a fortified castle surmounted by a crown, with a rampant lion crest above holding a pennant inscribed DON. The shield is flanked on either side by decorative sprays of flowers and foliage tied at the base. An engraved presentation inscription in cursive script reads across the field: Mr Robinson Wilbic for Prizes awarded during the Season 1835.
