Obverse description Left-facing bust of the Very Reverend Henry Richard Dawson in clerical dress, rendered in high relief. The legend curves around the upper periphery, and the engraver's signature W. WOODHOUSE FECIT appears in small lettering along the lower right field. The medal has a milled border.

Reverse description An allegorical funerary scene in high relief depicting several draped figures in mourning around a plinth surmounted by a pedestal with a triangular pediment, with a seated mother nursing an infant and a child standing in the foreground. The engraver's signature WOODHOUSE appears along the left border and DUBLIN along the right. The Roman numeral date inscription appears in two lines in the exergue.
