Obverse description High-relief crowned bust of Queen Victoria facing left, her hair elaborately dressed and bound with a diadem. The engraver's signature W. WYON R.A. appears on the truncation. A beaded border frames the design, with a Tudor rose ornament at the base.

Reverse description Within a raised inner circle, a crowned Irish harp with a female figure as the pillar is displayed at the top of the field, flanked by two shamrock sprigs, with a third shamrock below the legend. The three-line inscription fills the lower portion of the field. The border consists of a broad decorative wreath featuring roses, thistles, shamrocks and other floral motifs in high relief.
